 We holiday a lot with our kids and they have seen some great destinations - Croatia, Italy, USA, France, Portugal, Australia and Netherlands.
Their last trip was to the Maldives - yes very spoilt - so hiking for a week was going to be something completely new for our gang. So what actually is the Camino de Santiago and what did this adventure entail?  For many years I dreamt of visiting the Maldives to experience the beauty first hand. However it’s a remote destination and I always thought it would be far down my bucket list and in the "two hard to get to" category.
So a spontaneous decision to head there for Christmas was filled with much excitement and disbelief. We knew it was going to be a little pricey but for a family of five that’s always going to be the case wherever we travel.  If there is space on your bucket list please put Croatia on it. It is everything a simple relaxing summer holiday should be. Warm sun; perfect ocean temperature (minus any scary nasties), fresh food and amazing wine. Not to mention – great value.
